Oil on Linen

After the exhibition, the piece called “Peccavi” hung on the wall of my painting studio for a while. Every day, I looked at my paintings on the wall, and for the first time, I felt emotions by looking at my paintings, not in other people's paintings, but in my own. I felt somewhat lonely and melancholy, and I also felt sadness. I suddenly realized that if a painting can convey emotions, I wanted to convey warm emotions, not just sad and lonely ones. I may feel selfish, but I decided that I should make paintings that I can look at and be comforted by, not others, but myself, anytime, anywhere. Honestly, someone may not feel comforted by the act of hugging oneself,  or they might feel uncomfortable with the fact that a “white male model” or a "stranger" is hugging them. But who cares? This is not a painting for everyone; it's a painting for me, and it is just a painting that contains a little hope that not only me but others can be comforted.
